[comments] Crypto Month in Review - March 2018
Crypto moves way too fast for me to keep up, so I aggregate each day's biggest headline and publish the list at the end of the month. Below is my list for March. My main news source was reddit. My main holdings are ETH and NANO, but I try to make these lists as unbiased as possible. As requested by you guys, I have included source links to each of these headlines. I also took a screenshot of the market cap movement throughout the month that you can see
. To speak to March in particular - even though we are in a bear market right now, and the first half of the month had pretty negative headlines, hopefully the many promising headlines in the 2nd half of the list will help assure you that distributed ledger technology is only becoming more adopted and embedded in society with each passing day. 3/1 -

[comments] Company Coins/Tokens will be the Metaphorical "Hard Fork" in Public Opinion of Most Cryptocurrencies
The biggest threat to Bitcoin and lesser decentralized currencies are the creation of future blockchain based coins/tokens which are asset backed like stocks (see
Kevin O'Leary's Hotel crypto idea
Let's do a comparison case, what would you invest in long term and consider a more secure store of value? What would the wider public consider a more secure store of value?:
Coin 1 Decentralized low cost blockchain Ownership defined by private key Low recovery rate if stolen or lost Intrinsic value the only reason for price Anyone can purchase Coin 2 Centralized low cost blockchain Ownership defined by SEC rules and actual name Recoverable if lost or stolen due to centralized system Asset-backed by full faith and credit of issuer Most people can purchase it
Which coin is going to be more attractive to the average investor? If history is even a modest indicator of future actions by individuals,
should dominate down the line. This is like comparing penny stocks (those under $5 in value and of murky companies) to true company issued stocks that are on an exchange with audits to protect investors.
The current crop of cryptocurrencies are in essence penny stocks by comparison due to the lack of important regulatory controls. Only if they are treated like a currency as a means of exchange will some survive, and only as currencies. When blockchain technology is implemented at the company investment level, the broader public will choose the more secure option based on something tangible in the long run (in my personal opinion of course).
